A camp site in Denmark is a wonderful experience. The Danes themselves are real campers and appreciate spacious, natural camp sites with a hospitable atmosphere. As a guest in Denmark you will have to adjust to thousands of kilometres of coastline with dunes and beaches, the typical Danish friendliness, beautiful countryside, lovely towns and relaxation, plenty of it.
Camp sites in Denmark are loved by families with children. What is possibly the friendliest of holiday countries has so much to offer: an endless coastline, beaches that are not crowded, towns with typical Scandinavian wooden houses and for anyone who is (also) looking for peace and quiet: plenty of space.
The attractive capital of Copenhagen is an old harbour town with an amazing amount of culture and charm. A lovely mix of old fishing romance and trendy modern design. Copenhagen is a metropolis that feels like a sleepy village. You can eat well; Danish bakers produce wonderfully tasty bread and cakes and they are open 7 days a week!
The city has Europe’s longest shopping street; the 'Strøget'. But you also visit Denmark for the spacious and imposing landscapes on one of the many Danish islands. The chalky cliffs on the west coast of Zeeland (Sjaelland) for example, or the twisting coast road that leads north from Copenhagen, the white, sandy beaches of Jutland, the dozens of small fjords. You can take lovely walks or bike rides through the gently rolling hills inland. Denmark also has plenty of places of cultural interest and exciting attractions. The Viking Ship Museum in Roskilde for example where you can see how the tough Vikings risked the voyage over to England and Greenland in wooden boats.
There are old castles and fortresses, tranquil harbours and lovely amusement parks. Legoland in West Jutland is very famous and is much more than just a theme park. Denmark is certainly Scandinavian but that doesn’t mean that it’s always cold! The Danish climate in spring and summer is very pleasant. The island of Bornholm, the odd man out in the Baltic Sea close to southern Sweden has many more hours of sunshine that the rest of Denmark. The climate there is so mild that even figs, walnuts and apricots can be grown.
Denmark is also the ideal holiday destination for watersports enthusiasts; there are wonderful places at the seaside and in the fjords for a camping holiday by the water.
