Camping on Lake Maggiore! Music to the ears of many Italy lovers. Maccagno camp site is located by this popular lake on the eastern shores in lovely Lombardy. Its official name is Parkcamping Maccagno and that is no overstatement; the grounds are green and attractive. The pebbly beach is always a nice place to be and there are always surfers busy with their equipment. But even if you are not the sporty type you can simply enjoy the delights of the water or just lie on an airbed in the sun, or take a long evening walk on the footpath at the water's edge.

The green mountains form a lovely backdrop and you will hear the rustle of palm leaves overhead. The camp site is quiet, reasonably level and the grounds are well maintained and have marked out pitches.

The town of Maccagno is within walking distance so here you can do your basic shopping on foot; markets and restaurants are in Luino. Interesting trips out can be made to the beautiful islands of Isola Bella, Isola Madre and Isola dei Pescatori and to the fashion capital of Milan. On the other side of this vast lake you will find the mountain landscapes of Piemonte, but Maccagno is not far from the Swiss region of Ticino (Locarno, Bellinzona) and the area around Lugano!
