De Lakens camp site is located in an unusual part of the province of Noord-Holland: in a series of hollows in the dunes 200 metres from the North Sea. There is a lovely wide beach here at Bloemendaal aan Zee, plenty of beach stalls but also quiet parts of beach. Bloemendaal is where the boulevard starts which extends to the famous resort of Zandvoort.

Anyone camping at Duincamping de Lakens can enjoy two different worlds within a few kilometres of each other: the camp site is located next to the formidable Kennemer Dunes where you can wander endlessly and where you will come across foxes, deer and many rare plants.

Just beyond the Dunes is the town of Haarlem, a place with all the charm of an old Dutch town: inner courtyards, lovely squares and many monumental buildings. Haarlem is also an excellent town for shopping; there are many charming little lanes with antique shops, trendy shops and good restaurants. The old Teyler’s Museum is recommended. A city trip to Amsterdam is also very easy from here!

The camp site has a pleasant cafe serving pub meals and plenty of attention is given to comfort with special pitches for motor homes, plenty of places for children to play and bike hire. Young people can camp in a special hollow in the dunes. So peace and quiet for everyone, right in the middle of the countryside!
