There are things that you should probably not do at a campsite, and then there are also things that will contribute to more holiday fun. With these tips you will learn how you, and your temporary neighbour, can have a wonderful time at the campsite. Experienced campers will enjoy how recognisable our tips are, and newbies will love them for their practicality.

Do’s

Strike up a conversation with your neighbours. Who knows, your children might be the same age, they may have a great tip for a restaurant, or they might know about a lovely quiet beach nearby.

Keep an eye on the campsite’s activity calendar. Perhaps you can pull up a chair during pizza night, or join a guided tour of the surroundings.

It sounds logical, but keep the campsite clean. Take away any food waste left in the plughole after doing the washing up, leave a clean toilet and rinse away any hairs or sand after taking a shower. It’s hardly any trouble, and it’s so much nicer for the person coming after you.

If you’re heading out for a day or an afternoon, clean up your breakfast things and throw away any rubbish. Wasps, ants, and sometimes cats will have discovered the breakfast leftovers in no time and will leave chaos in their wake; which you get to clean up when you get back to your pitch!

Walk your dog outside the campsite grounds or (if there are any) on the dog walking areas at the campsite.

Don’ts

Use the toilet facilities as they are meant to be used, so don’t wash your child in a sink where other people have to do their washing up, and don’t clean the fish you caught in the sinks that other campers use to clean their clothes.

Not everyone loves dogs and some people might even be allergic or afraid of your four-legged friend. Ask your direct neighbours how they feel about dogs and only let your dog loose on your own pitch.

The great thing about camping is that you can be outside all day. Perhaps you would like to play some music once in a while, or sit and chat with your campsite neighbours. That’s a lot of fun for you, of course, but do take care that you don’t inconvenience the people around you with the noise.

When you have to visit the toilet facilities in the dead of night, then it is important to bring a torch to get to the toilet block safely. But try to avoid shining it directly into other people’s tents. You can also avoid having to walk to the facilities by booking a SunLodge with toilet.

Do you have a camping tip?
