Flower Camping La Samaritaine is located in the heart of the French Ardennes. The lovely Champagne-Ardennes region of northern France is underestimated in comparison to the more famous tourist destinations in the south. You will discover here why that is not justified!
The French Ardennes countryside is beautiful, in many places still unspoilt, but there are also many unusual sights. The River Maas, here just a winding little stream, water mills, centuries old monasteries, historic towns such as Charleville-Mezieres, sturdy fortresses at Sedan, Rocroi and Bouillon (Belgium) and naturally the capital of Champagne, Rheims! Most people think of Rheims for the world famous champagne, but it is also a town with majestic squares, museums such as the beautiful Museum Saint-Remi which is on the world heritage list, convents, the Gallo-Roman colonnades in the town and as its biggest attraction the Notre Dame of Rheims cathedral.
There is a small lake on the camp site with a beach and jetty which is ideal for swimming and playing. With its playground, playing field and miniclub in the summer months this is just the camp site for families with children. The grounds are level, natural and well maintained. There are marked out pitches for camping. You can also choose a comfortable static caravan or wooden chalet that sleeps up to 6. The surrounding woods are a paradise for walkers and cyclists and the children can have fun building huts.
Also recommended in the area; the tourist train that follows the bends in the Maas. A trip to the Belgian Ardennes or Luxembourg and the region around Trier in Germany is easily made from here!
