Campsite La Forge de Sainte Marie is located in the heart of the Haute Marne and the Champagne region. This picturesque campsite, built in and around a beautifully restored 18th century forge, is situated among vast champagne vineyards, forests and beautiful lakes. An excellent possibility to discover this relatively unspoiled part of France using this campsite as a base. The campsite itself offers varied amenities, such as a heated indoor swimming pool, a lovely terrace with lounging chairs, jacuzzi, a little shop, a bar/restaurant with a view of the fishing lake and a wonderful entertainment programme for all ages. Children can play with their friends in the kids' club, jump on the bouncy castle, play in the scooter park, play video games, put on a show in the evening, or make something pretty for you. Meanwhile, you can participate in the Olympic Games on the big sports field.
The grounds include beautiful old oak trees, many plants, flowers, and various kinds of birds. The river Rongeant meanders through the campsite and flows into the fishing lake. Enjoy the sounds of the waterfall in the distance, while you sip from your wine or champagne during a tasting with of course a large selection of French cheeses from the region. Whichever you choose, La Forge de Sainte Marie has it all.
Don't miss the outing on a tractor to a nearby farm where they farmer will prepare a wonderful barbecue for you. Enjoy live music in the evening. Or join the people around the campsite's campfire and sing along to the camping songs with all your might. If you have a permit you can fish to your heart's content in the area for trout, bass, pike, pike perch, and minnow in the many rivers and lakes. If you would like to get to know the area in slow-motion, get on a bicycle, or enjoy the area on foot. There are bikes for rent and there are guided walking tours that will take you through forests, small villages and to beautiful views. Lake Lac du Ler is slightly further afield, the largest artificial lake in Europe and very suitable for various watersports. The treetop adventure park Accroder is situated next to this reservoir, a great day out for the whole family. If you would like to visit some great towns or villages, then we have the charming Chaumont and Saint-Dizier, and the beautiful Troyes, Reims and Épernay, or one of the (in)famous champagne bars. Or perhaps you would prefer to visit a castle, go bowling, go-carting, golfing, hang gliding, visit a theme park, go paint-balling, visit a local market, or cycle over train tracks? This and more is all possible in the Champagne region. The reception desk will be happy to give you the information you need.
