Camping Ma Prairie in Canet-en-Roussillon occupies a peaceful spot in the tranquil countryside of the Languedoc-Roussillon region of French Catalonia, close to the Spanish border. The campsite's jewel is the fantastic leisure pool with two heated swimming pools, a toddlers' pool and water slides. The entertainment team organises fun activities around the swimming pool throughout the months of July and August.
The clean and tidy campsite has a bar and restaurant for traditional Catalan cuisine and cocktails, plus a wine bar which sells delightful Roussillon wines. At Domaine de la Perdrix, owned by the brother of the friendly campsite operators, and just a half hour drive away, you will receive a warm welcome to wine tasting, barbecue evenings and musical concerts. The restaurant organises special evenings throughout the high season, including live concerts. Fresh croissants and bread are available every morning, and you can pick up your favourite newspaper. In addition, there are a range of activities on the programme, plus a fitness suite and multisports field for ball sports. In the high season, you can take part in sports competitions and other great recreational activities, plus there's also a climbing wall.
The surroundings are ripe for hiking and cycling. The beach is just three kilometres away. Canet-en-Roussillon and Saint-Cyprien have wide sandy beaches and are perfect for watersports, including windsurfing, kite surfing and stand-up paddling. The immediate surroundings are perfect for outdoor activities such as via ferrata and canyoning at all levels. There are also organised excursions to locations further afield, including to Barcelona, Andorra, Figueras with its Dali museum and the world heritage site of Canal du Midi. You can also make excursions yourself. Why not check out Canet-en-Roussillon, the artistic town of Collioure, the music and street artists of Perpignan (which can be reached easily by public transport), the Pyrénées Orientales, which can be accessed with the yellow train, or the many local markets? It is a fantastic region of sun, sea and sand, plus a little further afield are the mountain landscapes of the Pyrenees, including Canigou, the sacred mountain of the Catalonians.
