A real treat of a campsite, Camping La Chênaie (in Loire-Atlantique) sits in a beautiful district highly suited to a camping holiday, between beaches and countryside. The big attraction at this campsite in France is the aquapark, with its large heated pools, slide and covered swimming pool. Around the various features of the leisure pool, you can soak up the sun on a lounger or order a long cooling drink at the bar while the children splash in the water. The entertainment team is also on hand!
There’s always plenty on offer at Camping La Chênaie, including dance demos, sports tournaments, quizzes and children’s face painting. Camping La Chênaie also boasts a snack bar, sports grounds, WiFi zone (charges apply), playground, mini-store (with fresh bread), laundry services and a takeaway. For those who’ve come away without reading matter, English books can be borrowed from reception. Camping La Chênaie is very close to Pornic, a cosy bathing resort (2½ km away) — equally ideal for a day relaxing on the beach or for watersports. The fishing port-cum-marina is well worth visiting, too. The area around the campsite has more to offer besides: boutiques, patios, markets and fishponds. Children will particularly appreciate Planète Sauvage, a zoo. For a city day trip, Nantes is an excellent choice from here. Don’t miss the chance, either, to strike out from La Baule to Guérande peninsula and visit the submarine base at St-Nazaire that played such a crucial role in the Battle of the Atlantic.
