Camping on the island of Île d’Oléron

You will find the Les Gros Joncs campsite in west France, sheltered by dunes in the woods of the Atlantic coast. The campsite has a very special location: the small island of Île d'Oléron, which is linked to the mainland by a bridge.

Beautiful sandy beach nearby

The famous Fort Boyard lies opposite the island, in the middle of the sea. You can enjoy a relaxing holiday in a landscape full of flowers and there is also plenty to do and discover in the area. There is a beautiful sandy beach close by (400m) and you can surf, sail, canoe, kayak and fish in the area.

Back at Les Gros Joncs campsite there is a lovely covered swimming pool and an outdoor swimming pool with a toddlers’ pool. In high season, there is also entertainment for children and a kids' club. For total relaxation, you can enjoy being pampered by one of the beauty specialists. You can enjoy delicious meals in the restaurant and buy fresh bread each morning from the bakery.

Authentic harbour towns

In the local area, you can visit a wine growing or oyster farming estate, the fishing locks, Fort Royer in Boyardville or the sailing museum. The authentic harbour towns of Royan and La Rochelle are also worth a visit.

Family with children, 4 – 12 years

Der Platz ist überschaubar und für Familien mit kleinen Kindern gut geeignet. Der Pool ist schön und das Personal sehr freundlich. Einige Stellplätze sind für Zelte nicht so gut geeignet, da der Untergrund aus schwarzem Sand besteht.

Der Strand ist nah, aber voller Steine. Gerade bei Ebbe, nicht so gut zum Schwimmen zu nutzen.

Die Sanitäranlagen sind nicht schön, sodass sich eine Schlange an den Behinderten-Duschen bildet.

Alles in allem ok, aber keine 5 Sterne.

The facilities around the bar restaurant and pool were very good but the actual caravan pitches were dirty and unkept also the shower blocks and toilet facilities were dirty, unkept and dated to say this is a 5 star campsite we were very disappointed and it affected our holiday.

Couple

Wij waren met 1 hond & 2 volwassenen. We hadden een chalet. Camping vestaat voor 90 procent uit chalets. Gezellige familiecamping met dagelijkse animatie in hoogseizoen. Leuk zwembad. Strand is slechts op 5 min. Lopen.
Eerste avond was er weinig druk op straal vankeukenwater. Nadat we dit zeiden kwam er meteen iemand naar kijken, ondanks het al late tijdstip in de avond. Onze douche was met afwisselend warm & koud water.
Vriendelijk personeel die plezier hadden in hun werk.
Vanaf de camping kun je leuke uitstapjes maken.

A tidy well organised campsite with good facilities. The only thing that was not so good were the toilets and showers. These could be better.
The pool and the splash park were great. The local restaurant with take away was very good and the staff were helpful.

Der Campingplatz hat eine überschaubare Größe, ist sehr schön angelegt mit viel Grün und ist sehr ruhig. Ideal um den Stress aus dem Alltag abzubauen und sich zu erholen...
