General information
A tropical surprise on the Spanish coast
This charming family campsite is located in a botanical garden on Spain’s Costa Dorada. That means a camping holiday in a completely tropical ambiance. The area around Playa Bara offers every amenity. There is a large supermarket with products from Spain and many other countries, restaurants, a takeaway restaurant, (snack) bars, cash machine and gift shop. You can even get newspapers from home!
The campsite is located near the town of Roda de Barà, between Barcelona and Tarragona. You can swim and sunbathe in a relaxed way in and around the swimming pool which is surrounded by palm trees. If you want to relax after a busy day, there is a sauna and beauty centre. What a wonderful way to round off a day on holiday in Spain.
If you prefer to go to the beach, you can walk to the extensive sandy beach at Roda de Barà from the campsite. This beach is renowned for the quality of its water and the clean, beautiful sand. Not surprising that it’s known as the ‘golden coast’. You can also try snorkelling, windsurfing and water skiing here.
Roman remains
You might get the feeling you are stepping back into Ancient Rome at Playa Bara. That’s not surprising, as the town of Tarragona, full of Roman monuments, is close by. You can see a real Roman amphitheatre and a large Roman aqueduct here. You will see Roman elements on the campsite too, but fortunately these are more modern. The swimming pool with a large sunbathing terrace around it looks a bit like an amphitheatre. The campsite also has a small real amphitheatre where you can watch performances.
A hinterland full of variety
There’s plenty to see in the surrounding area for those who want more than just sea and sand. The attractive fishing village of Roc de Sant Gaieta is just a couple of kilometres from the campsite, while the cities of Barcelona and Montserrat are a bit further away. A car trip along one of the many golden beaches in the vicinity is also enjoyable, and you’ll understand immediately why it is called the Golden Coast. A trip out to one of the theme and water parks in the area will be fun for the whole family.
From craft to sport
You don’t need to be bored while on holiday at this campsite. Extensive entertainment is provided throughout the season and excursions are organised for all ages; art and craft afternoons, discos for young and old, sports events, cooking lessons and even professional shows and musicals.
If you want, you can do something with the whole family. You can use the fitness room, minigolf course and tennis courts at the campsite, or you can enjoy the large swimming pools. They come in various sizes and are suitable for the very youngest to the very biggest! Your children will love the swimming pool with slides while you enjoy a drink on the sun terrace.
