Five campsites in the Netherlands with an indoor pool

12 April, 2019

An indoor pool is often a campsite’s greatest asset. It means fun in the water is guaranteed, even when the weather gods are not smiling upon us. Everyone enjoys metres of slides, thrilling jet streams, joyful paddling pools and hot tubs. This is my top five indoor pools at campsites in the Netherlands. It is an essential list if you are going on holiday in the Netherlands this year.

1. Campsite Vakantie- en attractiepark Duinrell

It goes without saying that Duinrell belongs in this blog. This iconic attraction park near Wassenaar will be familiar to many of the Dutch. Since 1984, you can go to the Tikibad subtropical swimming pool at Duinrell. In the indoor section, several slides guarantee the requisite adrenaline. And you can relax on the Lazy River, the world’s first indoor Lazy River. The Playa indoor water park has been developed specially for the little children.

2. Recreatiepark De Leistert

De Leistert is located in Middle Limburg. It’s a recreational park with multiple swimming pools. The subtropical indoor pool includes two spacious lagoon pools, two hot tubs, various slides and child-friendly jet streams. In addition there is the life-size water play equipment called Pien. The youngest children in particular will enjoy themselves to the full in De Leistert swimming pool complex.

3. Campsite Roompot Beach Resort

There is no lack of water in the province of Zeeland. And that is also certainly the case at Campsite Roompot Beach Resort! The indoor subtropical water paradise at the campsite is a wonderful place for all ages to have lots of fun in the water. The wave pool reminds you of the sea, which is inextricably linked to the province you are in. Children who prefer calmly splashing around can use the paddling pool. See if you dare to go down the giant 63-metre slide.

4. Campsite De Molenhof

De Molenhof is a friendly campsite in the heart of Twente. Don’t expect a subtropical mega pool like at the three previous campsites, but it has a modest pool with a retractable roof. The water is heated making it very pleasant. The play equipment and slides create a joyful touch in the pool. There is even a paddling pool for the little ones.

5. Vakantiepark Callassande

The final campsite in the list is situated in the Kop van Noord-Holland. Vakantiepark Callassande is a family campsite where you can also go swimming if the weather is less favourable. A big slide and a few smaller versions provide hours of pleasure. The smallest campers can play safely in a separate paddling pool. A nice detail is that the roof of the pool can be opened in nice weather.

Have we forgotten any?

Do you know of other campsites in the Netherlands with great indoor pools? Or have you ever swum at one of the campsites mentioned in this blog? If so, let us know!

  • From Calais to Cannes and from Nantes to Nancy. You could say I explored quite a bit of France in the past. Together with my parents and brother, we'd go camping for weeks on end in a trailer tent at the best campsites. Later, we went through the rest of Europe in a motorhome. Nowadays, I really enjoy cultural city breaks with my wife. Oh yes, despite my fear of heights, I love cliff railways and cable cars.
