Top 5 – The most unique places to stay

7 May, 2018

Been camping for years in a mobile home, bungalow or tent? Go crazy this year and go for one of the amazing holiday rentals at a campsite. It’s the perfect way to make your holiday even more memorable. Sleep two metres up in the air, sleep while bobbing on the water, or see the beautiful starry sky from your bed. Which is your favourite?

1. Argh, Matey! – Slovenia

Welcome to Pirate’s Bay. At this campsite, you can sleep in a wooden hut on the water. You can reach your pirate’s hut via a wooden bridge, and it’s big enough for five. There’s even a kitchenette and a dining nook. Is the sun out? Then sit out on your balcony. You can also spend the night on ‘dry land’ in a tipi.

Terme Catez campsite, where you can find these wooden huts, is a great campsite for families. You can spend hours in the huge leisure pool, and the entertainment team will thrill young and old with their fantastic entertainment programme. Need a little more relaxation? Then the spa with sauna is the oasis you’ve been looking for.

2. Be at one with nature – Belgium

Val de l’Aisne family campsite is hidden amongst the natural surroundings of the Belgian Ardennes. It’s a campsite where adventure and the great outdoors are all-important. You can cool down in the swimming lake, or have fun in the adventure forest. There’s also a professional organisation at the campsite that organises the best adventures. What will you do today? Go rock climbing, abseiling, caving, or just a trip out on a canoe?

The Ardennes are all about the natural surroundings. So of course, you’ll want to sleep as close to all that nature as you can. In this campsite in Blier, near La Roche-en-Ardenne, you can do just that, if you stay in one of their accommodation options: a Tree Seed, or a Sphair.

A Tree Seed is a tear-shaped tent, which hangs from a tree. You can stay here with your family – up to two adults and two children can fit inside. You use a ladder to climb into your tent, and there’s a round mattress inside. There’s a wooden platform below with garden furniture for you to relax on. An adventurous overnight stay with no frills.

Do you enjoy looking at the stars? Then spend the night in a Sphair, also known as a bubble. There’s a transparent roof above the double bed, the most romantic way to stargaze!

3. Go back in time – the Netherlands

In the green hilly landscape of Limburg, you’ll find lots of authentic white timbered houses. These houses are characteristic of this region, and that’s what they thought at Roland Campsite in Afferden too. So they’ve created a comfortable tent, shaped like a timbered house.

These timbered house tents are luxuriously furnished and look amazing! You’ll drift off to sleep on a box-spring bed, and there’s an open kitchen with a coffee machine, gas stove and microwave. This 6-person tent even has its own bathroom with a shower, sink and toilet. Let your relaxing holiday commence!

4. Back to basics – Austria

Ok, so it’s not such a special accommodation option. The Blokhaus at Reisach Alpine Holiday Park campsite is a simple wooden holiday home. It’s simply furnished, but does have everything you need for a comfortable holiday. Including a kitchen, bathroom with shower and toilet, and comfortable beds. The unique thing about the Blokhaus is its location. From your veranda, you’ll look directly onto the imposing mountains of the Alps. Just imagine what it’d be like to wake up to that view every day – pure pleasure!

The campsite is surrounded by beautiful countryside, and this is reflected in the campsite. They’ve really tried to keep everything as natural as possible. For instance, you can go swimming in the pure mineral water of the idyllic natural pool. And to keep things nice and peaceful, no cars are allowed in the campsite in July and August.

5. Panoramic view over the ocean – Croatia

Do you love the sea? Then a holiday in the Superior Mobile Home at Kozarica campsite will be just what you need. You’ll enjoy a panoramic view over the azure blue ocean from the balcony of your house (large enough for 6), and it’s just a quick walk to the beach. Doesn’t that sound heavenly? The house even has two bedrooms, both with en suite bathrooms.

Kozarica campsite is surrounded by stunning countryside. In the south, it borders on the Adriatic, in the North Lake Vrana, a wonderful bird sanctuary. There are four national parks nearby: the Kornati archipelago, Krka waterfalls, Paklenice national park, and the world-famous Plitvice Lakes National Park. This park is well-known for its clear blue waterfalls, surrounded by green countryside.

Fancy a day out? Then take a walk along the romantic coastal path to the centre of Pakoštane. Here you can enjoy a cocktail on one of the lively terraces, and visit the various boutiques and souvenir shops.

With plenty of space, long comfortable beds, a fully-equipped kitchen and a covered veranda, they are a wonderful place to stay. And they’re in some of the best campsites in Europe. You’ll always find a leisure pool at these campsites, and/or they are right on the sea.
