The most fun aqua parks in Europe

8 June, 2017

This week, we’re going to take you on a tour of all the theme parks in Europe that are focused on fun with water. Water rides are often part of normal theme parks, some campsites are a veritable water paradise, and, for the ultimate fun-filled day with water, you can visit a real aqua park.

These aqua parks eagerly respond to what young people, from toddlers to teenagers, want to do. And there’s even space for adults to feel like children again.

Obviously, most of these aqua parks are in warmer countries, such as those around the Mediterranean. Suncamp holidays lists 6 of them below, enough inspiration for your next thrilling holiday. Here they are:

Camping Solaris (Croatia) has its own aqua park

Camping Solaris on the Dalmatian coast in Croatia is so well-equipped with water recreation facilities that we can definitely call it an aqua park. The campsite is in a quiet location, right on the coast, surrounded by pine forests. Campers are so well taken care of here that they don’t even need to leave the campsite.

They’ve thought of everything. All sorts of sport and wellness facilities, but of course the eye catcher is the Solaris Aqua park. A huge, colourful building, ingeniously designed for various water attractions. A waterfall, water slides, a flowing river you can swim in, and even a pirate ship! And we’ve not even mentioned all the possibilities offered by the beach and the seaside. I can imagine that children would have fun all day long here…

Highlights at Solaris Campsite:

Aquadiver (Spain) fun in the water for the whole family

Aquadiver in Platja d’Aro is one of the best water parks in Catalonia, Spain. There’s a pool with waves, a waterfall, a fast-flowing river, the so-called Splash Mountain, water slides in all sorts of different colours, shapes, with offshoots and other thrills, even some with multiple lanes, so you can see which of your family members can get to the bottom the fastest.

One of the best things is the Kamikaze slides, not the normal tube-shaped slides, where you do a freefall of tens of metres, really brilliant.

But there’s more. There are water slides especially for young children, Fun Temples for everyone to enjoy fun in the water, and a Rock House to discover. An amazing water park for all ages.

Water World (Spain) is a paradise for water lovers

Water World in Lloret de Mar, near Barcelona on the Costa Brava in Spain is a beautiful aqua park with countless attractions for the little ones, the daredevils, but also for those who prefer things a little calmer.

Examples include the biggest white water course in Europe, a wave pool with waves up to 2 metres high, a huge swimming pool with sun terraces and jacuzzis for relaxing, a white-water course where you can go rafting, kamikaze slides with a freefall of more than 70 metres, a vortex, and winding water slides.

But the little ones will also have fun on Kiddie Island, a special aqua park with a swimming pool, slides, and games in the water with bubbles everywhere. And with the Mediterranean sunshine, you can come and enjoy this place more than once…

A pirate ship full of Sesame Street characters and all sorts of water games with water jets and other safe water bubbles. The top attraction is Europe’s highest water slide with free fall. This is only for the real daredevils, looking for an adrenaline high.

If you don’t want to have your hair standing quite so much on end, try one of the gentler water slides, which are still twisty and fun. You’ll find several water rides and slides here, and a huge area of water to have fun with or relax in. What are you waiting for?

  • As a youngster, Ivo enjoyed European camping holidays with his parents, his tent and his canoe. These days he prefers more sporty campsites, preferably those close to rafting and mountain biking opportunities. For Ivo, there's nothing better than a holiday in the great outdoors, so for him, camping is ideal!
