General information
Along the woodland path to the beach
The Atlantic waves by your feet, a canopy of fir trees to protect you from the sun; what could go wrong with a holiday in the south of France when you have all this? You will find it all at Campéole Le Vivier campsite in the Landes-Aquitaine coastal region. A footpath takes you to the beach where you can laze around or splash in the surf. The strong waves make this the perfect surfing location. If you actually want to swim you are better off in the campsite’s swimming pool. The large pool is fun for everyone. You can swim a few lengths here, take part in fitness, or just hang around on the edge of the pool and jump in. The campsite’s location in a wood means you will always find a shady spot, and there are plenty of trees for your hammock!
Rough sea, calm hinterland
Camping Campéole Le Vivier is located in the southwest of France in the Landes-Aquitaine region. This region is renowned for its extensive pine forests, the many lakes and its location on the Atlantic Ocean. The sea can be very wild here, so take a good look before you go in the water. The high waves make this region popular with surfers, centred on the Biscarrosse-Plage beach which is close to the campsite. You can also sign up for a surfing course at the campsite. The surroundings are very flat, so there is good cycling here. There are many cycling and walking routes from the campsite, and Lake Cazaux-Sanguinet is about 5km inland from the campsite where you will find great beaches and calm swimming water.
Fun around the pool
You can spend a fully relaxing day at the campsite. The area around the swimming pool is the heart of Camping Campéole Le Vivier, and it’s here where you will also find the playground and sports fields. The children will have a great time on the large bouncy castles. Meanwhile you can work on your condition. You can take part in all types of sports competitions and events during the summer months. There are concerts, performances, karaoke and discos in the evenings, and they also take care of the children. They can take part in pottery, cooking or craft work, but also theatre plays and dancing.
Oysters or wine? Whatever you fancy!
There is a whole world waiting to be discovered beyond the campsite. Drive 15km north and you will be among the Pilat Dunes. Climbing Europe’s highest sand dune (100m) on a summer day is bound to make you sweat, but the view from the top across sand, sea and forests will make the effort worthwhile. The harbour town of Arcachon is a bit further north, and you can take a pedestrian ferry to Cap Ferret from here. This luxurious resort is located at the end of the long headland by Arcachon bay. You can of course drive around Arcachon bay, where you will get good views of the many oyster farms. On your way you will pass through characteristic fishing villages with fish restaurants everywhere. You will get a different view of France if you drive a bit towards the east; this will take you to the hilly wine region of Bordeaux. Wine lovers will want to visit one of the many wine chateaux. The city of Bordeaux is a fine destination in itself for a cultural day out.
