The walled town of Vannes, where time has stood still, lies close to Carnac. The mediaeval towers and colourful houses of Vannes take you back to the time of knights on horseback and ladies in sumptuous dresses. You can enter the town gates and explore the narrow streets of the historic centre. For that extra medieval feel it is best to visit the town on a Wednesday, when the weekly market is in full swing. You can enjoy a drink or bite to eat afterwards on one of the terraces by the harbour, or have a pizza at Villa Romana, which has a great view of the town walls..
You don't have to travel to the south of France to enjoy a sunny summer holiday. The south of Brittany is far enough! The weather in Carnac is always pleasant in the summer because of the Gulf Stream and temperatures are usually around 20 degrees.
