What to enjoy from your campsite in West Flanders

You really don’t have to worry that you’ll end up being bored while on holiday here, as there’s lots and lots to be done within easy reach of your campsite. West-Vlaanderen has plenty to offer when it comes to culture and natural beauty:

  • Sea and beaches
There’s some great hiking, cycling or watersports (such as surfing, sailing and land sailing) to be had around Belgium’s well-known bathing resorts along the coast here, such as Oostende (Ostend), Blankenberge and De Panne. If you just feel like relaxing, the beach is at hand.
  • Bruges
Campsites in West Flanders make good bases for visiting the outstanding city of Bruges (Brugge in Flemish). Wandering through its twisty alleyways, whose riches have been recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, you’ll be caught up in medieval romance.
  • Day trips
West Vlaanderen has many engaging museums, including the Frietmusem (on the making of the local chips or “French fries”) in Bruges and the Steam Machine Museum at the former ETIZ Power Station in the town of Izegem. For younger children, a trip to the amusement park of Plopsaland is going to be a highlight!

Camping in the countryside

West-Vlaanderen boasts not only its diversity of sights but also a varied countryside that plays host to mountain biking, pony and covered trap (huifkar) trekking, hiking and cycling. There are plenty of unique places to discover in this region.

Those taking their family camping in West-Vlaanderen will appreciate their campsite having a swimming pool, playground or entertainment team for the children.

You can of course decide to go camping in your own trusty tent or caravan, but West-Vlaanderen also has some campsites where you can rent accommodation such as a bungalow or mobile home.
