If you like World War Two history and the easy going French way of life, lovely little villages, museums, Vin rouge then this is a perfect place to visit. Port en Bessin is a small fishing port with a great story to tell and lots of good restaurants for all budgets, fire works and night market every Friday, in season, and your only approximately 8 kilometres from the lovely picturesque city of Bayeux. A visit to see the Bayeux tapestry is a must! You can pay a few euros extra and get cheap entry in to the art and world war 2 museums, it is well worth the extra 6 euros we paid and children under a certain age go free, we didn't pay for our daughter who is 7. You are also a short drive to all the D-Day beaches, gold, Juno, Omaha, Utah, sword, cliffs of La pointe du Hoc, Longue sur mer, Arroanches and Port en Bessin where the fuel line was brought from England to supply the trucks and tanks. I could. What an amazing and humbling experience!
