I should have done more research, I was expecting beaches nearby but they were more like large mudflats you had to travel some distance to find a sandy beach and there wasn't a lot to do in the area.

The beaches!! They were just amazing!! Beautiful sandy stretches. If you go to Portbail when the tide is out, it goes out really far and leaves behind beautiful lush rockpools that are warm and full of amazing sea life for children to explore. Its also only 30mins from st mere aglise, a beautiful little town that played a key part in D-Day. It has the Airbourne museum in it that is great and wonderfully interactive for children as they have little Histi-pads to do things on as they work around. Theres lots of other little towns and monuments dedicated to ww2, Plus many museums.
A beautiful part of the world but just a little too far to drive to some of the main tourist attractions.
Very nice place to visit, lots of history, lovely scenery, great places to eat out.
Many attractions and museums to visit if it is a rainy day
Close to mont st michel and cycle path.
