  • Verbania and the Borromean Islands
    Verbania is the largest town on the lake, full of striking villas, gardens and parks. From Verbania you can go by boat to the Borromean Islands. This group of islands in Lake Maggiore contains beautiful baroque buildings and gardens.
  • Baveno
    This charming town is mainly known for its pink granite from the quarry of Monte Camoscio that is used for many buildings in Rome. Baveno also has some beautiful villas and castles.
  • Locarno
    Locarno is located in the Swiss part of Lake Maggiore and has long been a tourist attraction. Two interesting buildings are the church of Madonna del Sasso with its lovely views of the town and the medieval castle, Castello Visconteo.
